What is Mobitel SMS Pay?

This is a facility, which can be used to pay your Mobitel bills via SMS by debiting your HSBC credit card.

 

Who is eligible for this facility?

All holders of an HSBC credit card (Personal & Corporate card holders) and a phone from Mobitel.

Note : Mobitel customers with a Corporate package are not eligible for this service.

How many cards could a customer register for one Mobitel number with this service?

Customers could register with only one credit card for a particular mobile number.

Note: If there is more than one request (i.e. made with several card numbers) the latest card would be resisted for this service.

 

How can customers enroll for this facility?

They can enroll by simply calling on 4 4722 77.

 

What are the details that are required for a new customer enrollment via HSBC Call Centre?

Cardholder simply has to provide the following details to any of our Customer Service Representatives (CSR) in order to get enrolled for this facility.

1. Credit Card Number to be debited
2. Mobitel Mobile Number which needs to be enrolled for this facility

Note: Customer needn’t give mobile number details of third party mobiles when enrolling for this service.

 

How would the customer know if his enrollment was successful?

The customer would receive a welcome message and his/her PIN by way of an SMS upon successful enrollment.

 

How can a customer pay his Mobitel bill through Mobitel SMS Pay?

Cardholder can pay his/her bill or any third party bill through this service. Customer should follow the below mentioned steps when performing payments via this system.

To pay your own bill

- Go to My Mobitel Menu on mobile phone
- Go to Financial category and then
- Go to HSBC
- Click on BillPay Own (for post paid owner) or click on Reload Own (for pre paid owner)
- Enter the Amount and Send

To pay a 3rd Party Bill

- Follow the first three steps mentioned above and then
- Click on BillPay Others (for Post paid 3rd party) or click on Reload Others (for Pre paid 3rd party)
- Enter the PIN then
- Enter the Recipients Mobile number and
- Finally enter the Amount and Send

 

What are the maximum payment amounts for Pre-paid and Post-post package owners?

Pre-paid - LKR1,000/- per transaction and
Post paid - LKR15,000/- per transaction.

 

Is there a restriction on the number of mobile phone bills a customer can pay?

No.

 

Would the customer be notified if the payment was successful or unsuccessful?

Yes. The customer will be notified by way of a SMS in both instances.

 

Would the customer be notified if the payment is not successful due to the credit card being over limit? If so, how?

Yes. The customer will be notified by way of a SMS that the payment was unsuccessful.

 

If the customer exceeds the credit limit (LKR1,000/- or LKR15,000/-) would the customer be notified?

Yes. Customer would be notified by way of a SMS.

SMS would be something similar to the following.
"Sorry! You cannot make the Payment. Amount has to be less than Rs. _ _ _ _".

 

When is the PIN required? (for own bill payments or only for third party bill payments?)

PIN is used only when making third party Payments.

 

If the customer forgets his PIN what could he/she do?

Customer could call Mobitel and get the PIN.

 

Would the customer be notified by Mobitel prior to the expiry of his credit card? And if so what would the SMS be and when would it be sent?

Yes. The customer would be notified by way of a SMS two weeks prior to the expiry of his/her card.

The SMS will be something similar to the following
"Your SMS Banking facility with HSBC will be terminated due to expiration of the Credit card in two weeks. Should you require to renew this facility, please forward your new card details by calling HSBC on 4 4722 77".

 

Any other facilities provided to Mobitel customers with regard to this service? (i.e. can a customer check his available credit, lock this facility temporarily etc.)
