Verified by Visa is a new service offered by Visa International that provides you with a personal password
for your Visa credit card, giving you added assurance that only you can use your Visa credit card to make purchases over the Internet.
How does HSBC's Verified by Visa work?
Verified by Visa provides you with a password to protect your online transactions, just like you use your
Personal Identification Number (PIN) at an ATM. To use HSBC's Verified by Visa service, you must be an HSBC online banking customer and simply register your
HSBC's Visa credit card and choose a password. You will be asked for password when you use the registered Visa credit card to make online purchase.
The main objective of the Verified by Visa is to prevent unauthorised usage of your card on the Internet, giving you more confidence about making
secure purchase online.

Can I register with my existing HSBC's Visa credit card or do I need to apply for a new one
to use HSBC's Verified by Visa service?
You don't need to apply for a new Visa credit card and you can simply register any HSBC's Visa credit card
to be protected by HSBC's Verified by Visa as long as your card is issued by HSBC.
Can I register more than one HSBC's Visa credit card?
Yes, you can register all of your HSBC's Visa credit cards.
Can I register any MasterCard?
No, HSBC's Verified by Visa is designed to support HSBC's Visa credit cards only at this moment.
Is there any charge for registration?
No, it is free of charge.
If I lost my HSBC's Visa credit card, do I need to re-register with the Verified by Visa
when I receive a new card?
Yes, you will need to register the new card again to access HSBC's Verified by Visa service.
When I renewed my HSBC's Visa credit card, do I need to register with the service again?
You'll receive a new card with the same number of your old card after renewal. Therefore, you do not need to
re-register in this service.
How do I register my HSBC's Visa credit card?
You need to register for the service in Verified by Visa Registration section either at online@hsbc, our internet banking service or at the Card Services section at www.hsbc.lk. During the registration, you will be asked to create
your own password for payment authentication and your Personal Assurance Message (PAM) for authenticating the issuer. Upon your confirmation of your
registration information, the HSBC's Verified by Visa Terms & Conditions will be prompted for your acceptance.
After I registered, how long does it take for HSBC's Verified by Visa to become active?
The service is available as soon as we confirm that your registration is successful.
Using Verified by Visa
What are the browser requirements for using HSBC's Verified by Visa service?
You need to install Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or above, Netscape Navigator 4.0 or
above.
What is a Personal Assurance Message?
When you register for HSBC's Verified by Visa, you will be asked to create a Personal Assurance Message
(PAM). When you pay online, always look for this Personal Assurance Message to ensure that you're using the Verified by Visa service with your card issuing
bank.
Once I have registered, how do I use HSBC's Verified by Visa service when I shop online?
Once you have registered, you will be able to use the Verified by Visa service right away on participating
merchant websites.
If I have not registered, can I use HSBC's Verified by Visa service when I shop online?
If you have not registered HSBC Verified by Visa service, any online purchases from Verified by Visa
merchants with your HSBC Visa card will be declined because we cannot authenticate your card's identity. However, so as not to inconvenience a purchase you
make before registration, we will exceptionally process your payment if you successfully pass our conditional authentication* by providing your personal
information.
Where can I shop with the Verified by Visa?
You can shop at any online store that has the Verified by Visa symbol. Also you can look for Verified by
Visa participating online stores on Visa's website: www.visa-asia.com/verified.
How will the online store know that I am the user of HSBC's Verified by Visa?
Participating online stores will recognise your Visa card number if you have registered it for HSBC's
Verified by Visa service.

Maintenance Section for resetting your password.
Can I change my Password?
You can alter your password at any time. Your new password should contain six to eight letters and/or
numbers (with no spaces or symbols in between), and must be different from your User ID and your old password. Please note that the password is upper and
lower case sensitive.
If I suspect someone has stolen my password or used it to make fraudulent purchase, what
should I do?
